First, American Professional Agency, Inc. has lowered rates in many jurisdictions and improved policy terms in a way that may warrant you taking a fresh look at the program:

  • Defense Expenses related to Licensing Board Hearings and Other Proceedings: Increased limits to $50,000 per proceeding with no annual aggregate (higher limits are available)
  • Insured’s Consent to Settle is now required in the settlement of any claim
  • Punitive Damages Coverage: Increased limits to $250,000 (where allowable/insurable by law)
  • Payment of Defense Expenses is in addition to the Limit of Liability for Professional and General Business Liability Coverages
  • Years accrued with prior APA-endorsed program will count towards free tail coverage

  • First Party Assault Coverage: Up to $25,000 reimbursement for medical expenses related to injuries and/or personal property damage caused by a patient or client
  • Medical Payments Coverage: Increased limits to $100,000 for Medical Payments to a patient or client arising from bodily injury on your business premises
  • Emergency Aid Coverage:  Reimbursement up to $15,000 in costs and expenses for medical supplies and up to $100.00 for lost earnings resulting from the provision of volunteer emergency treatment
  • Fire Legal Liability Coverage: $150,000 liability limit for fire damage to third party property
  • Premises Liability: Bodily Injury Coverage and/or damage to property on your premises
  • Information Privacy Coverage (HIPAA): Up to $25,000 defense provided for Federal and state regulators who investigate you for violations of privacy protections statutes (where allowable by law)
  • Claims-Made: “Prior acts” coverage is available. Therefore, it is not necessary to purchase tail coverage on your current policy
  • No Surcharge or Deductible for claims
  • Coverage for Peer Review, Utilization Review Activities, and Clinical Trials

Discounts

Second, the following American Professional Agency, Inc. discounts may apply to you:

  • 50% Part Time Discount for up to 20 client hours per week or less
  • Up to 50% New Doctor Discount (For those who qualify)
  • 10% New Policyholder Discount (must be claim-free for the last six months)
  • 15% Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist Discount for those whose patient base is more than 50% Children and Adolescents
  • 10% Claims Free Discount (must be claim free for 10 years after completion of training. Not available in some states)
  • 5% risk management discount for 3 hours of CME
